This is a one of a kind table top sculpture. It measures approximately 18 1/2 inches high by 10 inches at the wing span and 12 at base.
I began the creation of this piece several years ago when I welded the base plate and metal rod. I cut the wings and heart from steel using a plasma torch. At that time, I was uncertain where this piece was going. It remained on a shelf in my studio for the next several years. Periodically I would pull it down and play with a design but nothing really felt right.
Recently the piece spoke to my heart and told me it was time to be completed.
There is blue cobalt glass from a wine bottle that I cut out with my glass saw and then melted in the kiln attached to the base. A wire brush wheel forms the skirt and is topped with a piece of intricate copper that was once part of a champagne glass holder.
A mini tart pan holds the face of a pocket watch I took apart backed with a grinding wheel pad. The top box I have altered with various inks and paints and have added decoupaged sheets from an old book. I cut out a window, stamped the image of a beautiful women inside, and placed a piece of glass over the opening.
Wings adorn her head and small piece from an old radio is added as an accent. The brightly painted heart also has cogs, and gears from a watch I took apart.
She is gentle and kind and encouraging to your soul to take flight and believe.
I hope that she will find a special home for just the right person.
